Saturday marked the homecoming of Laurent Gbagbo’s former right-hand man, after more than eight years away.
Charles Blé Goudé was greeted at the airport by former First Lady Simone Gbagbo and a group of perhaps a dozen others.
The arrival of his aircraft from Accra, the capital of Ghana, was accompanied by a substantial police presence.
Charles Blé Goudé was cleared of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court in The Hague in March of last year.
Blé Goudé was imprisoned in Ghana in 2013 as a result of the 2010 post-election unrest that gripped the west African nation.
Former president Laurent Gbagbo refused to admit defeat to current president Alassane Ouattara.
The unrest after the election resulted in at least 3,000 fatalities.
