Ghana’s “Black Stars” lost to Uruguay 2-0 at the Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah on Friday, sending them home from the Qatar World Cup. The fans in Accra, Ghana, were bitterly disappointed and angry about missed chances.
At first, things went well for Ghana. When they attacked the Uruguay defense, Sergio Rochet fouled Mohammed Kudus, giving Ghana a penalty.
But Andre Ayew’s shot was saved, which gave the South American team a confidence boost.

And with confidence came goals. When the ball fell to Giorgian de Arrascaeta, he was the first to it and smashed it home to put them up 1-0.
Six minutes later, Arrascaeta was again jumping up and down after scoring the second goal that gave his team a two-goal lead.
After Daniel Amarty knocked down Darwin Nunez in the box, Uruguay asked for a penalty, but the referee didn’t agree.
Even though Uruguay beat Ghana 2-0, they didn’t make it to the next round because Korea Republic beat Portugal and moved into second place in the group.
To get to the next round, Ghana had to win and hope that Portugal didn’t lose.
In the end, neither choice worked out for them.
