As we got ready for the seventh episode of American Horror Story: NYC, we knew there would be a showdown between the main characters and Whitely. He was, after all, the person who killed the Mai Tai Killer, and he was the one who made the horrifying Sentinel.
The strange thing about this story, though, is that the season hasn’t ended yet. Would the show really kill off the Big Bad with only hours left until the end? Well, it turns out that they did, and it has to be one of the biggest moves we’ve seen so far.
Patrick was the one who killed this person, and now that Whitely is dead, everything can go back to normal… or it can’t? Soon after, Patrick was so angry that so many cases were being swept under the rug that he wanted to leave the NYPD.
But here’s the twist: only a certain number of dead bodies were linked to the Sentinel. Not all of the deaths were because of Whitely. There was more out there, and that made people think of more Big Daddy theories, but it also made people sick. Hannah was having symptoms, and people were going missing all over the city at the same time.
Then, in the second episode, Gino and Patrick started to feel strange on Fire Island, and Big Daddy showed their (ghostly?) face again. Still, he is the spirit that cannot be called. Theo, on the other hand, seemed to die at the end in a heartbreaking and pretty darn devastating scene. The deer stood for all the other men who died, and it’s getting clearer what this illness is supposed to stand for. More than any one man, this is the real threat that is still in the community.
